Stall during downloading

Knowledge Base Article ID: 66 ( Try another search )

When using Headsprout, your computer sometimes downloads the next activity in the background so that it is ready to use when the student has completed the current activity. In rare situations, your connection to the Internet can become congested or interfered with and you will not be able to successfully download the activity. When this occurs, your computer will re-attempt to download the activity 3 times before it gives up and displays a screen indicating that "There seems to be a problem connecting to Headsprout."

This is usually caused by one of the following:

  1. Local network problems
  2. Installed programs interfering with Headsprout Reading
  3. Firmware issue on Linksys routers. Will need to upgrade by contacting Linksys at (800) 326-7114.
  4. Web browser aborting the download (Due to bugs in older Mac browsers). Please switch to Safari.
In rare cases, it can be caused by the following:
  1. Windows swap file and memory allocation needs adjustment (PC only)
  2. Hard drive space is full
